Week 33 - Resin Pendants

Hello everybody.  Daisy from here in New Zealand.  I read the news about 41 pounds (about 18.6 kg) cat was found at Texas in US last week.  She is a ginger tabby cat named Skinny.  She is staying in Animal Shelter and looking for a new home.  I am worrying about her unhealthy condition.  She should diet and exercise.  And it is not good idea that people overfeed their cat or feed table scrap to him/her.  Remember, spoiling your cat in wrong way will make the cat's life shorter.

Well, this week, M made cat pendants using Resin.
M bought UV craft resin which become hard under sunshine.  She made two pendants.  One is with a cat and a daisy charm.  The back is polka dots tulle on purple organza.  The other one is with my photo!

I am in the pendant.

According to M, making these pendants were really fun.  You can layout anything as you like.  And you can get an original accessory almost instantly.  M decorated the chain using daisy parts and beads.  Of course the toggles are cat and fish one.

I am checking the detail.

Week 32 - Stopper Kittens

Kowhai
Hi everybody.  From Daisy here in New Zealand.  Cherry blossoms season is over and now Kowhai puts yellow flowers.  Kowhai is the NZ native flowering tree.  In front of the window that I usually watch through outside, Kowhai tree is in full bloom.  Birds are coming to this tree for collecting the nectar.  I like bird watching.

This week I am a little bit surprised.  I haven't seen Soy the door stopper cat for a while.  Then suddenly she appears with her kittens

Wow, kittens...
Well, this weeks project are stopper kittens.  They can be bookends, paper weights or door stoppers.
Hello.  We will work hard.
Their stuffing is not soy this time but Arborio rice and wheat.

Hello again.  I got twins.

Week 31 - Paw Apron

Hello!  How's your week?  Nothing special happened in my week.  Quiet and peaceful.  M went to Craft Show last weekend and bought some handmade soaps and a metal sculpture for her friend's birthday present.  Now she seems to be interested in resin craft.

This week M made an apron for herself.
Paw Apron
M bought cute cats print fabric a couple months ago.  She used it as an accent of this project.

Largest part of the paw print is a pocket
Paw Strap
Paw strap is detachable by Velcro.

I am checking durability.
I am concentrating on checking.

Week 30 - Fluffy Felt Kitten

Muscari
Hi everyone!  How are you?  This is Daisy's blog.  It is getting warmer and warmer here in New Zealand.  I found Muscari flowers in the garden.  Daffodils are in full bloom.
Watching outside in between plant pots

I like watching outside through the window as I told you before.  It is hours of fun for me.

This week's project is a voodoo cat doll...What?  No?  Uh-oh.  Sorry, I misunderstood it because M was stabbing a cat-shaped doll with a needle again and again.  I thought voodoo cat doll.

Well, this week's project is a fluffy felt kitten.  M tried needle-felting.

According to M, needle-felting is easy.  You can scalp anything you want.  M made a white kitten.  As the budget is tight, only white and pink Merino wool and felting needles were bought for this project.  Of course you may need eye buttons, thread and ribbon of your choice.

Wool and needles
Sculpt wool
First, take a ball of wool and stab it again and again with felting needle to make it firm.  As it gradually firm up, you can begin shaping.  The more you stab, the harder it becomes.  If you don't like or made a mistake, simply take the part away and do it again.

Caution : As some cats like chewing wool, beware of him/her not to swallow it.  I'm not so interested in wool, though.

Week 29 - Purrfect Bracelet

It's September!  Officially Spring has come!  It seems getting warmer day by day.  Grasses and plants are growing up faster.  I like munching grasses.  It's good for managing hairball.  And of course I cannot wait snoozing in warm spring sunshine.

This week M made a bracelet using suede look beads and cute toggles.

Purrfect Bracelet

M found some cute toggles those shape are cat and fish.  It is hard to see in the photo but black beads are suede like surface.  Other beads are green nuggets, pinkish clear rounds and cats eyes.
Cat and Fish toggles

The bracelet itself is nothing special but with this toggles it becomes purrfect.

I wish these were real diamonds.
