Week 86 - Basic Cat Collar

Hi everybody.  How are you enjoying the first weekend in October?  I am enjoying the spring sunshine at the windowsill with listening birds cheeping.  Today, M came to me holding a cat collar which she had just made for me.  M put it on to me and said, "Oh, looks like a house cat."  Excuse me, I have been already a house cat...desperate house cat.  I just don't like wearing a collar.  M took some pictures of me and undo my collar.  Good grief!

Basic Cat Collar

How to make a basic cat collar.

Materials to prepare ; 4 x 38 cm fabric of your choice, 0.9 x 36 cm interfacing, 1 x safety buckle(1 cm wide), 1 x tri-glide(1 cm wide), 1 x split ring or D-ring, 1 x jingle bell

You also need ; matching thread, fabric glue, a needle, sewing machine, iron & ironing board

1. Place an interfacing on the fabric, and iron on to attach

2. Hold along to the interfacing and press flat with iron.  Hold and press the other edge as well. (See picture A)

3.  Cut the both ends like a picture B, 

4. Glue it to make a clean shape.

 

5. Hold and sew together and make a fine belt.

6. Attach tri-glide first and sew the end, then put safety buckle through the belt. And again put through the tri-glide.

7. Put a split ring and safety buckle through the other end and hold about 3 cm and sew to attach the ring and the buckle. 

8. Attach a jingle bell to the split ring. Finish.

Week 85 - Art Nouveau like Illustration

Hello humans and kitties.  How's your weekend ?  It starts daylight saving time tomorrow in New Zealand.  The clock goes one hour forward.  With my tummy clock daylight saving has already started since a couple days ago...

This week, M challenged to the Art Nouveau painting.  It sounds like a big work.  No, not so great.  She just made a parody of Alphonse Mucha's work.

   The base of painting is Mucha's famous 'Sarah Bernhardt'.  M changed Sarah Bernhardt to me, lilies to daisies, and stars to fish.

  According to M, Sarah Bernhardt (1844-1923) was a great Parisian actress who influenced many famous artists.  Alphonse Mucha (1860-1939) was one of them.

Week 84 - Birdie Catnip Sachet

Hi everybody.  What are you up to?  It was raining in Christchurch this morning, but now it is clear.  The Kowhai tree in front of the window put yellow brooms and birds seems to enjoy them.  Is my life looks boring?  No.  I had a exciting thing today.  M made something to me.  Guess what?  She made a cute birdie.  Inside catnip fascinates me.

It is a kind of scratching post decoration, however it can be used as a catnip toy.  It is made from cotton.  The beak is felt and the tail is grosgrain dot ribbon.  Homemade dried catnip is inside.

Week 83 - Kitty Ballet Pop Up Card

Hi every humans and kitties.  Are you enjoying the weekend?  M sowed cat grass seeds in this week and I am looking forward to it grown.  I have already had a pot of cat grass, but it is definitely not enough.

Today, M was doing something with papers.  She seemed to be struggled with drawing.  Well, here is this week's project.

Week 82 - Wired Hanging Bottle

Hello everyone.  How is your weekend going?  I enjoyed being chased by M this afternoon.  It was fun and good exercise.  I like being chased.  M seemed to be annoyed because I only like being chased, not chasing.

This week M was doing something with wire and a bottle.  And finished work is this.

The project itself was not so difficult, but she was struggling to take the picture.  The glass reflects the light.
There are four wire cats around the base.  She glued them with clear resin.

Week 81 - Pink Panther Bow Purse

Hi everybody.  It is the last day of this August.  So fast, isn't it?  I can smell spring in the air these days.  And it makes me sleepy.  Don't say that cats are always sleepy.

This week, M made a coin purse using a metal frame.

The silver metal frame is size 8.5 cm.  The interfacing is ironed on the main fabric.  The lining is calico and the bow part is the brown linen.  M added a tiny kitty charm on the bow.

Week 80 - 'Happy Days with My Cat' Bracelet

Hi everybody.  It is getting warmer here in Christchurch.  I can see the plants has brandnew leaves and looks more energetic and lively.  Spring is just around the corner.  Exciting, isn't it?

This week, M made a bracelet using a sheet of shrink plastic.

First, she cut out cat shape from the shrink plastic, then she made a pattern of circles on them and colored.  Before put them into the oven, she punched out holes.  

Now, this is the interesting part.  Once they are baked well, they shrunk amazingly.  She connected jump rings them and attached nugget beads to make it as a bracelet.

One of plate says, "Happy Days with My Cat".
