Week 67 - Kitty Cats Photo Frame

I am enjoying the sunshine.

Hello everybody.  Welcome to Daisy's blog.
After several wet days, finally we got a fine day.  I was looking forward to the warm sunshine.

It is getting colder in Christchurch.  A warm sunny day is precious.  I enjoyed the sunshine at the windowsill.  And M was busy to do the laundries as well as to do crafting.

This week, M made a plastic photo frame using a kit for children.  Because we aim to make an original cat craft, she didn't use a template from the kit.  She drew her own pattern on the PVC sheet.  Just used the material.

She decorated frame with drawing two cats, daisies and catnip leaves.

The left of the photo above is M's sketch on paper, and the right is the traced design and painted on PVC sheet.

Week 66 - Plant Pot Cover

Hello humans and kitties.  How was your week?  It has been wet and cold in Christchurch.  The damp weather effected this week's project badly.

M made a couple of plant pot covers in this week.  She used air-dry terracotta clay and expected it to be dried by Saturday, which is today.  However, under damp weather condition, it is not dried completely and still a little bit soft.  So I cannot say this week's project has finished.  Oh-oh.

Anyway, I will show you M's work.

 She used an empty cup of the instant soup for the base.  Yes, it is recycle to give a new life to the rubbish to be.

The plastic cup is strong enough to be a base.

And she also made an another pot cover that is inspired by Ancient Egyptian wall picture.  Originally, she was going to paint on it.  But it is impossible that the pot is not dried completely.

She also made plant tags.

I am checking the quality.

Week 65 - Petite Pusses

 Hello everyone.  How was your week?  The daytime is getting shorter and shorter in New Zealand.  It is hard to get up in the dark and cold morning.  Although M gets up early to go to work, I can still sleep on the bed.  This is the best part being a cat.

This week, M made a couple of tiny cute kittens.

How to make Petite Puss

Materials

•  Felt fablic in your chosen colour

• Matching embroidery threads
• One pair of plastic animal eyes
• 6 mm Ribbon × 33 cm
• Jingle bell
• Hobby Fill for stuffing
• Fishing line or vinyl cord (optional)

1. Cut out all the parts using the templates above.  You need to put about 3 mm seam allowance in each parts except for ears, tail, eyelashes and cheeks
2. Start by making the tail.  Hold the dotted line and sew the other side to the end.
3. Slip the tail into the slit at the back of the body and stitch in place.

4. Put body shapes right sides together, and stitch both sides.
5. Pair up the face sides right sides together, and sew CA and BD.
6. Turn body right side out, and place face side C and D to C' and D' and sew on.
7. Make a satin stitch for the nose and a back stitch for the mouth.  Glue eyelash to each eyes. Make two tiny holes and insert eyes.
8. Make a pair of ears.  Hold the dotted line and sew the other side with blanket stitches.
9. Now attach the face to the body.  Make sure the face and the body inside out, and place A to A' and B to B'.  Do not forget to insert each ears.  Sew together.
10. Then, stitch the bottom to the body leaving a quoter, and turn the right side out.

11. Add stuffing to give your puss a plump shape.  And finish stitching up the opening. Stitch the tail on the side.
12. Stitch vinyl cord through the each cheek and glue on the face.
13. Put the jingle bell on the ribbon and tie around the neck.

Week 64 - Curious Cat Tray

Hi everyone.  How are you doing today?  I was bored with birdwatching this morning.  So I started stalking M.  She seems to be annoyed.  She was busy doing laundry and making something for this week's project.  Sorry, but stalking human is very exciting game for every domestic cat.

This week, M made a small tray to hold a watch, jewellery, or keys.

M used red colour fake suade and leopard print fabric for tray itself.  Then she attached a tiny cat as if it watches inside curiously.

Week 63 - Lion Rampant Pendant and Brooch

Where are you going?

Hello, humans and cats.
Are you enjoying the weekend?
I am a wee bit worrying about this weeks project. Normally, M does cat crafting on Saturday.  But M went out today.  Can I update this blog?  Yes?

All right, according to M, she has already made something on the last Thursday.  Thursday was an Anzac day and a public holiday in New Zealand.  She was off and had a plenty of time to make something.  Whew.

Well, let's have a look at this week's project.

Lion Rampant Pendant and Brooch

M made a heraldry like pendant head and a brooch using polymer clay and Brush'n Leaf paint.  She likes Prince Rupert of the Rhine (1619-1682) and these items are inspired by his heraldry.  However, she doesn't know the exact heraldry of Prince Rupert.  It is a guess work.  But, who is Prince Rupert?

The left photo is what M made five years ago.  About 1:16 scale of Prince Rupert and his dog, Boy.  It is made with polymer clay.

Week 62 - Cute Cat Barrettes

Hello everybody and every cat.  How are you today?  It is drizzling all day and cold here in Christchurch.  I am enjoying curled-up on M's lap, although M doesn't seem to be comfortable.

By the way, I read the news that the cat who addicted to McDonald's.  Frankie the cat was dumped when he was kitten and he survived with begging burger patty or nuggets at the McDonald's drive-through.  Fortunately, after one year's survive, the SPCA officer found and rescued him.  Unfortunately, he looked swollen and matted with poor diet.  And he didn't accept normal kitty diet.  But now he put through rehab and gets used to cat biscuits.  This is a story from the Waikato Times in New Zealand.

Well, let's have a look this week's project, shall we?  This week, M made two different types of barrettes.

  One is put six polymer clay cats on the fake suede decorated with blanket stitch.  The other is put antique gold colour cat charms and blue Rhine stones on the fake leather.

Oh dear.  I'm not in these cats.

Week 61 - Gorgeous Purse with a Cat Appliqué

Hi everybody!  How are you ?  I am Daisy, featuring cat crafts every week.  Sixty weeks have past since M and I started this blog.  More than sixty projects have done.  Never be the same.  Sometimes similar, though.

This week's project is similar to the past one.  A purse using a frame clasp.  M made a pink panther purse in the last November.  It is slightly smaller in this time and the design is quite different.

She made this with khaki linen and cotton lace.  To make this purse as a cat craft, she drew me on calico and sewed on it.

The frame clasp itself is 12 cm.  The cat is drawn with Versacraft stamp ink.  Attached a leather handle with a cat charm.

I like the smell of this leather.
