Week 28 - Cat Cross Stitch

Hi everyone!  How are you?  I enjoyed sunshine today with napping and grooming.  M also seemed to enjoy doing something with red cloth in sunshine.  She got a parcel of cloths and shoes this morning which she had ordered last weekend.  On line shopping is amazing, isn't it?  And she got some meat and sausages from a next door neighbour.  I am expecting that I can have some fresh meat tonight.

This week, M tried cross stitching.  As every project must be original, she started to make a design first.  Then, she made a stitching pattern.  There are some useful website to make a cross stitch pattern.  And this is the finished work.

Cross stitching is a time consuming work.  However, it is not so difficult once you make a pattern.  A simple design is the better result.  Of course M made a tabby cat design.

Week 27 - Catnip Mice

Hi everyone.  How are you?  It was soggy this week, but I feel spring is not so far away.  Cherry blossoms are blooming.  Day time is getting longer.  My fur starts shedding.

This week M made Catnip mice for me.  Actually, she prepared this project a few months ago, however she had to stop making as she couldn't get dried catnip.

To make dried catnip is easy.  You need fresh catnip and chop off the stem before it has flower and hang it in the dry place.

Most cats love catnip and go crazy.  It's just like a drug, but different from humans, we just enjoy the smell for a while and don't be involved in any crime.  Cat burglar is a different story.

Catnip Mice

It is easy-peasy to make.  All you need is felt of your choice, thread, cotton or carded polyester fibre for stuffing and dried catnip.

Pattern for Catnip Mouse

How to make a Catnip Mouse.

1. Cut out the felt according to the pattern above.

2. Make eyes with French knot stitch.

3. Gather on side of ear and saw onto body.

4. Saw the back of mouse with blanket stitch.

5. Saw line A together with blanket stitch.

6. Saw line B together but leave some for stuffing.

7. Stuff with cotton (or polyester fibre) and catnip and saw shut.

8. Saw tail onto the body. Put a tiny ribbon on the tail (option).

  Done! 

You can stuff only catnip if you like.  More fascinating.

Week 26 - Cat Family 3D Picture

Hi every body!  This is Daisy's blog.  Twenty six weeks which means a half year have past since I started this blog.  Whoa, it was so quick.  I really enjoy checking M's work.

By the way, I watched the Olympic games yesterday.  Sorry, but I felt people are clumsy compare to us, cats.  Even though the Olympic players are top athletes from all over the world, still not good enough.  I read the news about Sarah the cheetah in Cincinnati Zoo ran 100 metres in 5.95 seconds.  If you would like to see how fast she ran, go to the National Geographic website.  As you know, cheetah is the fastest land mammal. Even domestic cat's running speed is up to 48km/h, which means 100 metres in 7.5 seconds.  Besides, we can jump up to seven times higher of our length without a bar.

This week, M made a Cat Family 3D Picture as she admires us.

 She used polymer clay.  Mixing each colour up, and sculptured.  Not using colour paints apart from gold of lion's crown and cheetah's medal.

Week 25 - Draught Stopper

Hello from Daisy in New Zealand.  People seem to enjoy Olympic games on TV but it has nothing to do with our cat world.  M enjoys watching You Tube rather than Olympic games and is amazed at finding some cats drawing on iPad or riding Roomba the cleaning robot.  I am not sure that M wants to buy iPad or Roomba for me.  I'm afraid that M expects me something to do as You Tube cats do.  Don't even think about it, M.

This week M made a draught stopper to keep our room warm.  Yes, it is still in the middle of winter in New Zealand.
